Oilers hockey glides to 11-3 win

Scores come early and often in Coast 2 Coast Inline Hockey victory.The Dwyer Oilers scored early and often against Valley Christian in Jr. High Division play and never let up en route to an 11-3 victory at Coast 2 Coast Inline Hockey Center in Huntington Beach.

The Oilers posted five goals in the first period, then tacked on four more in the second to take a 9-3 advantage into the third.

Dallas Heyden led the Oilers’ attack with three goals. Kian Rhodes, Garrett Haar and Marco Passaquindici each scored twice and Zach Gillespie and Lewis Gifford each scored once.

Haar also led the team in assists with two.

Joshua Fowler finished with 15 saves.

Aaron Caro scored all three goals for Valley Christian. Jeff Flicker and Gavin Massrey each had an assist, and David Mastro had 29 saves.

In other Jr. High Division action:

Jr. Griffins 8, Mesa View 3

The Jr. Griffins jumped out to a 5-0 lead after one period in defeating the Eagles.

Stephen White scored four goals to lead all scorers. Teammates Brad Brandenburg, Cameron Cowan, Taylor Baikie and Alex Borcich each had one goal to complete the scoring for the Jr. Griffins.

White, Brandenburg and Matthew Iacono each had two assists, and Avi Press had 19 saves.

Joey Burkhardt had a goal and two assists, Cody Merrick scored once with an assist and Tov Johnson had a goal for Mesa View.

Cubberley 8, Mesa View 5

Blake Cooper posted five goals to lead Cubberley past the Eagles.

Cameron Berkenkamp and Darren Nowick also scored and Nowick, Eric Saunders and Anthony Felix each had an assist.

Blake Miller and Joey Burkhardit each scored twice and Cody Merrick once for Mesa View. Burkhardt also had three assists and Cody Merrick and Kyle Merrick one apiece.
