A 50-year master plan for Heisler Park will be reviewed during a public tour at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 7.

The tour will provide a broad overview of the improvements proposed for four main areas of the park: Picnic Beach, Monument Point, the shuffleboard courts and Rockpile Beach.

The tour will begin at the picnic tables at Picnic Beach, located north of the intersection of Myrtle Street and Cliff Drive.

During the tour, city staff and representatives of Landscape Architecture Studio -- master plan architect -- will describe the proposed improvements. After the tour, a question-and-answer session will be held.

The proposed plan will be reviewed by the design review board on Jan. 19. Previous versions of the plan have been considered by the City Council and design review board.

This version of the plan is more detailed and demonstrates how the concepts will be implemented.

The $450,000 cost for preparing the master plan is divided between the city and the Coastal Conservancy.

Once a master plan and environmental impact report are approved, the city will seek grant funding for the improvements.

The proposed plans are available for review at the Community Development Counter at City Hall, 505 Forest Ave. Information: Wade Brown, (949) 497-0360.
