Orange Coast tops Chargers

COSTA MESA -- The Orange Coast College women’s basketball team made 8 of 18 three-point attempts to help secure a 57-51 Orange Empire Conference win over Cypress Friday.

Jillian Ricks had a game-high 17 points for the Pirates (18-2, 2-0 in conference), who received eight points and 16 rebounds from Madison Parks.

Ricks was among five different Pirates to connect from three-point range, including Teeya Fernandez, Valerie Katayama and Meghan Maxwell, who drained two apiece.

Cypress fell to 15-4, 1-1.

OCC outscored the Chargers, 23-15, in the first half, then held on.
