Sage Hill plays to a draw
NEWPORT COAST -- The Sage Hill School girls’ soccer team put in 100 minutes of hard work against rival St. Margaret’s and came away with a 1-1 overtime tie in a key Academy League game on Friday.
Jamie Schiffer scored in the 17th minute to give St. Margaret’s a 1-0 lead, but the Lightning came back when Kellee Kim scored on a penalty kick in the 25th minute.
After that, stopper Carolyn Witte led a stellar defensive effort for Sage Hill.
“She was the player of the game,” Sage Hill Coach Amy Ray said. “Our whole team played with so much heart. We dug down deep.”
Sage Hill moved to 10-2-1 overall, 2-0-1 in the Academy League. St. Margaret’s moved to 7-5-2, 2-0-1.
