Arrests in SUV theft

Two men taken into custody after police spot stolen Tahoe.A man and woman driving an allegedly stolen SUV were arrested Monday after leading police on a brief chase.

Christopher Clark, 41, of Santa Ana was driving the 2004 Chevy Tahoe at about noon near Mission and Mendoza drives in the Mesa del Mar neighborhood, and Jusiry Toscano, 25, of Costa Mesa was his passenger when police spotted the vehicle, said Costa Mesa Lt. Clay Epperson.

After a short pursuit, police located the SUV a few blocks away near Sonora Road and Velasco Lane and took Toscano into custody. Clark fled and was found at a residence in the 2700 block of Portola Drive, Epperson said. Clark was arrested on suspicion of vehicle theft, resisting and obstructing a police officer, felony evading a police officer and violating parole.
