5 Chargers named All-CIF in football

Lineman Fuga named All-Southern Section.Five players from the 2006 Edison High football team have been named to the All-CIF Southern Section/Amateur Athletic Federation football team.

In addition, Romney Fuga of Edison was named first-team offense on the All-Southern Section team. Players were drawn from all 13 11-man divisions to create the all-section team.

Named to the Division I offensive team was quarterback Brian Shrock, Fuga, an offensive lineman, and Jimmy Flanagan at wide receiver.

Linebacker Davey Baldwin and defensive back Dominique Vinson were named to the D-I defensive team.

All but Vinson, who is a junior, are seniors.

Fuga, one of seven offensive linemen named to the All-Southern Section team, was to sign a full scholarship to Brigham Young University on Wednesday, Edison coach Dave White said.

“As I’ve said before, Romney’s the best two-way lineman I’ve coached, and that covers 20 years,” White said. “He’s a great kid too.

“These seniors are a special group, and Dominique had a great year for a junior. All these guys earned this honor.”
