Resigned to a change of heart

I have a saying in life: “The only thing you can count on is change.”

I developed this view from living a rather tumultuous childhood, coupled with further confusion into my 20s. This saying could be adopted by anyone reading this, given the nature of life.

I have to admit I felt an undue sadness at hearing that Nancy Blade was resigning [as Laguna Beach High School principal]. I don’t even know who I was sad for, just having the feeling, for what it’s worth.

I wish her best in whatever she sets her hand to. I haven’t had long to get to know her but I have felt her heart for educating the children. In this Valentine’s week, heart seems like a good thing to remember.

So we will have a change and, as is the nature of change, I’m not sure we even asked for it, but here it is.

I do have some hopes, though. I hope we can continue with the commitment to recognize each of the students for who they are, with their strengths and their weaknesses. This is something that was a part of Nancy Blade’s heart.

I hope we can continue to build a team of teachers who grow from being a part of Laguna Beach High School. I hope that the momentum of school spirit continues and people want to send their kids to Laguna Beach High School -- after all there is always the choice to change.

I hope the future’s so bright, we have to wear shades.

Come and join PTA as you are able. Our meetings are the second Thursday of every month at the high school.
