Child abuse suspect arrested on drug charge

A 20-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of narcotics possession Thursday Feb. 9 at about 7 p.m. on the 900 block of South Coast Highway.

Laguna police were assisting Orange County Social Services on a report of suspected child abuse when they discovered narcotics at the location, a hotel room, Det. Sgt. Darin Lenyi said.

Internet runaway brought home

A minor was returned to Laguna Beach from Seattle on Saturday night, Det. Sgt. Darin Lenyi said.

The minor, who is believed to have had plans to meet an individual contacted over the Internet, was taken into custody by Seattle police.

“With today’s Internet, we feel safety is of most importance for children,” Lenyi said.

Five arrested in bar fight on Ocean

Early Sunday morning, five individuals were arrested on the 200 block of Ocean Ave. on assault and battery charges resulting from a bar fight, police said.

A 23-year-old female from Oceanside, a 29-year-old female from Bridgeport, Connecticut and a 28-year-old male from Fairfield, Connecticut were all arrested on suspicion of assault and battery.

Arrested on suspicion of assault and battery on a police officer were a 27-year-old male from Bethel, Connecticut and a 20-year-old male from Oceanside, police said.

Five arrested at Riviera Dr. party

On Sunday at about 2 a.m. Laguna police, with the support of four Newport Beach units, responded to the 2500 block of Riviera Drive to what appeared to be a youth party with parents absent.

At the scene, violence erupted that resulted in the arrests of five individuals, Det. Sgt. Darin Lenyi said.

A 17-year-old Newport Beach boy was arrested on suspicion of assault on a police officer and was released to his mother. A 37-year-old woman, a 21-year-old man and an 18-year-old man were all arrested on suspicion of interfering with a police officer.

A 49-year-old Laguna Beach man was also arrested on suspicion of interfering with police and contributing to the delinquency of minors.
