Seniors sign up for Flamingo casino trip

The Laguna Beach Senior Center is headed to the Flamingo Hotel and Casino in Laughlin, Nevada from May 9 to 11.

The price of this trip will include two buffet diners, driver’s tip, luggage handling and a two-night stay. Membership of the Senior Center is not required.

The trip cost is $95 for a double room and $110 for a single room. Reservations and payment must be made by Friday, March 31. Information: Sharon Olney, Senior Center Coordinator, (949) 464-9535.

New Medicare prescription plan explained

The Laguna Beach Seniors and the Orange County Council on Aging/Health Insurance Counseling and Advocacy Program invites seniors to a program designed to answer questions about the new Medicare D prescription drug coverage.

“Clearing the Confusion on Medicare D” will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 27 at South Coast Medical Center Auditorium, 31872 So. Coast Highway.

Attorney and Medicare educator Julie R. Schoen will be the speaker. Schoen serves as legal counsel for the Council on Aging and the Health Insurance Counseling and Advocacy Program.

Seniors have until May 15 to choose and enroll in a plan without penalty. If enrollment is after that date the premium may be 1% higher for every month of delayed enrollment.
