Parade traffic, road closures

The Laguna police department is giving notice of street closures and heavy traffic in the downtown area on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. due to the Patriots Day Parade.

Closures:

Park Avenue between Wendt Terrace and Pacific Coast Highway;

Glenneyre Street between Legion Street and Forest Avenue;

Forest Avenue, the entire length between Pacific Coast Highway and Laguna Canyon Road.

Third Street, entire length between Park Avenue and Forest Avenue.

Second Street, entire length between Mermaid Street and Forest Avenue.

Mermaid Street, entire length between Second Street and Third Street.

Assault with a deadly weapon alleged

Police arrested a man at a Laguna Beach bar on Sunday about 1 a.m on a charge of assault with a deadly weapon ? his fists.

The suspect, a resident of Hawaii, allegedly used his fists after a verbal altercation, Det. Sgt. Darin Lenyi said.

Coast Guard responds to gasoline drum call

The Coast Guard responded to a potential hazardous material situation concerning a 55-gallon drum off of Three Arch Bay on Wednesday at about 3 p.m..

The drum washed ashore Thursday morning and its contents determined to be gasoline, Coast Guard spokesman Tony Migliorini said.

There was no environmental damage from the container, which most likely fell off a ship, Migliorini said.

Rangers: El Morro park subjected to vandalism

Laguna Beach police and other law enforcement officers were called to El Morro Village at Crystal Cove State Park on Sunday at about 2 a.m., after reports of a disturbance at a party and underage drinkers. There were no arrests.

State Park Rangers said that graffiti, broken windows and other acts of vandalism were committed over the weekend at the mobile-home site, whose longtime residents have been forced to leave.

The deadline for tenants to leave was extended by 24 hours to midnight on Wednesday.
