February was “heart healthy” month for women across America, with Valentine’s Day offering a natural way for the American Heart Assn. to bring attention to the seriousness of heart disease in women.

At the Paul Mitchell salon in Costa Mesa, 60 people dyed their head red to bring attention to the cause, and a major luncheon was held at the Balboa Bay Club & Resort. The ballroom of the Balboa Bay Club & Resort was filled to capacity, with some 500 donors gathering to hear the latest medical information on women and heart disease. An auction benefited the local chapter of the American Heart Assn.

The Junior League of Orange County is planning its spring fundraiser, “Golf Tournament by the Sea.” The event will take place March 31 at the Monarch Beach Golf Links in Dana Point. Lunch will be served on the course courtesy of Pavilions Market. The day of golf will be followed by a reception including cocktails, hors d’oeuvres and a live auction at the resort’s Club 19.
