MIEKO CHRISTOPHERSON

A memorial service will be held this weekend in Irvine for longtime Costa Mesa resident Mieko Christopherson.

Born in Okinawa in 1928, Christopherson was a homemaker who lived in Costa Mesa for 41 years. She died Saturday of complications from emphysema. She was 67.

Christopherson is survived by her husband, Myron; two daughters, Barbara Toto and Shonna Christopherson; a brother, Isamu Oshiro; three sisters, Kiyoko Lucas, Yuriko Ritchie and Sadako Oshiro; and two grandchildren.

A funeral mass is scheduled at 2 p.m. on March 11 at St. John Neumann Catholic Church in Irvine.

FRANCIS JOSEPH GARRO

Francis Joseph Garro will be remembered at services scheduled Wednesday at Harbor Lawn-Mt. Olive Memorial Park in Costa Mesa.

Garro was born in Boise, Idaho, in 1934 and worked in auto leasing before he retired. A 30-year Costa Mesa resident, Garro died Thursday in Newport Beach from cancer. He was 71.

He is survived by his wife, Wanda; two sons, Christopher Copple and Ted Garro; and three sisters, Adelia Simplot, Ramona Higer and Susan Meuleman.

Visitation is set from 8 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, with a service at 10:30 a.m. and burial to follow at Harbor Lawn-Mt. Olive Memorial Park, 1625 Gisler Ave., Costa Mesa.
