Fine Arts preschool application agreed

The Huntington Beach City School District unanimously agreed Tuesday that an application for licensing for the district’s Preschool Academy for the Fine Arts will be filed.

The licensing would be for two fee-based preschools at Perry and Hawes schools and will include activities such as music, dance and visual arts.

The district has been researching the notion of the fee-based arts preschool and decided the programs would operate Monday through Friday with a morning and afternoon session at each school site.

The tuition will be $500 per month per student and applicants who live within district limits will have priority. The program will serve 80 to 96 students in both school sites. If space allows, the district will open registration to Huntington Beach residents outside the Huntington Beach City School District.

The school board will discuss the school in more detail at its March 21 meeting. Preschool registration will begin on March 31.
