Chargers, Vikings win at Cypress Tournament

Edison gave Kendra Tarrant a victory in her coaching debut as the Chargers defeated the Peninsula Panthers, 4-3, at the Cypress Tournament.

Dani Miller hit a two-run triple in the first inning and later scored on a hit by freshman Stephanie Engle. Senior Jessica Aldrich threw a one-hitter through four innings before giving the mound to Engle, who closed the game.

Edison took a four-run lead into the seventh inning, then held on for the win.

The Chargers got their second win in the tournament and advanced to the semifinal round by blanking the Valencia Tigers, 5-0. Senior Jessica Marlow smashed a grand slam and finished with five RBI, overall. Aldrich pitched a complete game and gave up just three hits.
