UCI doubles up on Lions

LOS ANGELES ? Jaime Martinez drove in five runs and Blair Erickson earned his 34th career save as UC Irvine topped Loyola Marymount, 10-5, in a nonconference baseball game Tuesday.

Martinez hit a two-run single in the fifth inning and added another in the seventh. Spike McDougall hit a home run in the sixth.

Erickson pitched the final two innings for the save. With the save, the junior tied Chad Cordero for second place on the Big West Conference’s all-time list.

Gary Nakashima tossed three innings of one-hit ball for his first win of the season.
