The California Coastal Commission’s Adopt-a-Beach program will take place at four locations throughout Laguna this Saturday.

Urging more local students to participate, event organizer and Clean Water Now! founder Roger Butow addressed the school board meeting Tuesday.

More students are coming from outside the city than from within to help out, Butow claimed.

By offering community-service credits, Butow hopes to attract more participants this year.

Last year’s spring cleanup attracted some 225 volunteers, Butow said.

“We have doubled attendance since we began six years ago,” he said.

The Montage Resort is expected to bring in a team of corporate volunteers, alongside Johnson and Johnson.

“If they contribute money we’ll promote their logo,” Butow added.

The cleanup starts at 9 a.m. and runs till noon. Trash will be picked up across the entire coastline of Laguna, and will be organized from the following locations: Main Beach; Victoria Beach; Aliso Beach; and Treasure Island Beach at the Montage Resort.

Free all-day parking is available to participants.
