Oysters win as Legion clam up

The Oysters took over first-place in the Majors Division standings at Laguna Beach Little League by shutting out American Legion, 11-0, at Riddle Field.

Austin Hilleman and Taylor Preston continued their outstanding pitching by combining for a no-hitter.

Alex Iannotti had a hot bat for the Oysters. His first trip to the plate resulted in a stand-up triple in the first inning, then he topped that by slugging a grand slam in the second inning.

It was the first grand slam in the division this year.

Other hitting leaders for the Oysters were Larry Stewart with a double and single, Garrett Burk singled sharply to right field twice, Joe Redfearn doubled to deep left-centerfield and Hilleman singled.

Outfielder Riley Lozano and shortstop Nico Darras made key defensive stops for American Legion.
