UCI handles Gauchos

IRVINE ? UC Irvine outscored UC Santa Barbara in all four quarters to claim an 11-5 Mountain Pacific Sports Federation victory in women’s water polo Sunday.

UCI broke a 2-2 tie with 2:08 left in the first period on a goal by junior Jackie Prine and led the rest of the way.

Freshman Gianna Rossi and junior Robyn Kaake scored three goals apiece for the No. 11-ranked Anteaters (14-10, 4-5 in the MPSF).

Sophomore Lauren Machanis made five saves for the Anteaters, who return to action Friday at UC Davis, the first of three games in Northern California.

UCSB fell to 12-14, 2-7.
