An inch of rain fell on Orange County on Tuesday, causing wet conditions and at least one weather-related car accident, officials said.

Meteorologists with the National Weather Service said Tuesday’s weather was the result of a storm that had been building over the Pacific Ocean.

Police said standing water and speed were to blame in a car accident at MacArthur Boulevard and Bonita Canyon on Tuesday afternoon. A woman in her mid-40s was hospitalized with minor injuries after she turned a corner too fast and the Jeep Cherokee she was driving went into a ditch and hit a garage door, Newport Beach Police Sgt. Bill Hartford said.

The rain is expected to continue through today and taper off into showers by late afternoon.

Thursday and Friday are expected to be dry, but meteorologists say wet weather may return this weekend.dpt.05-weather-1-CPhotoInfoND1PKUVV20060405ix87f9knDOUGLAS ZIMMERMAN / DAILY PILOT(LA)Sandy Zajack of Huntington Beach shields herself and her grandson Luke, 3, from the rain at Fashion Island on Tuesday.
