The Guilds of the Orange County Performing Arts Center have been honoring volunteers in their communities. The Newport Harbor Area Guild, which includes the Camelot, Cabaret, Performing Arts Juniors, Sound of Music and South Pacific chapters, held an event in March to honor their volunteers.

The Camelot Chapter honored Jean Wegener, executive director of Serving People in Need (SPIN), which provides assistance to low-income families and the homeless.

The Cabaret Chapter honored Jane Fowler, a long-time docent at the Orange County Museum of Art.

The Performing Arts Juniors Chapter honored Megan Eddy, the music and choral director at Sage Hill School in Newport Coast and director of music at Rolling Hills Methodist Church in Palos Verdes.

The Sound of Music Chapter honored Nadine and Jim Turner. Nadine Turner has been busy with the Harbor Council PTA and several other youth groups. Jim Turner volunteers for Newport Beach Lifeguards, Hoag Hospital and the Leadership Tomorrow board. Together, the Turners volunteer with the Newport Beach Pier-to-Pier and Corona del Mar ocean races, the Irvine and Newport Beach Girl Scout Olympics, Race for the Cure and the Taste of Newport Beach.

The South Pacific Guild honored Robert “Cap” Bonner, retired chief pilot of the San Pedro Harbor. He is a member of Hoag Hospital Auxiliary with more than 30 years and 5,000 hours of volunteer work to his credit, and he works as director of the Newport Beach Civil Service Commission.
