Salgado, Solomon dive to pool wins

Chris Salgado of Edison and Shayna Soloman of Marina won the boys’ and girls’ competition, respectively, at last week’s Sunset League diving meet.

Salgado took the boys’ competition with a score of 200.65. He was followed by Jeff Merich of Los Alamitos with a score of 164.05, and in third-place was Trevor Gardner of Marina with a score of 163.60.

In team competition, Marina defeated Huntington Beach, 13-0, Esperanza beat Los Alamitos, 9-6, and Edison topped Fountain Valley, 11-5.

Soloman won the girls’ competition with a score of 256.00. Marina teammate Jaclyn Funke was second with 226.85 and Selby Warner of Huntington was third with 214.85.

In the girls’ team competition, Marina beat Huntington, 12-4, Los Alamitos downed Esperanza, 11-5, and Edison defeated Fountain Valley, 12-4.
