Steen’s triumph paces Anteaters

LA JOLLA, Calif. ? UC Irvine senior Amber Steen won the 800 meters with a time of 2 minutes, 12.26 seconds at the UC San Diego Triton track and field invitational on Saturday.

Suzanne Purmort won her section of the 400 hurdles in a season-best 1:02.62 and Haley Jouras won her section in 1:08.56.

Danielle St. John finished fifth in the high jump (5 feet, 5 inches). Ashlee Marshell was eighth among 35 competitors in the long jump (18-1).

For the UCI men, Mark Ilarina (11.06) and Oliver Plattner (11.14) finished second and third in their section of the 100.

Storm Huie was second in his section of the 400 in 49.28 while Bryan Lopez won his section of the 800 in 1:56.12. Adrian Doty was third in his section of the 800 in 1:55.18.

Fred Lee was second in the triple jump (48-5 1/4 ) and Peter Gonzalez was sixth (46-8 1/4 ).

Julian Eison finished fifth in the high jump, matching his season-best of 6-8 3/4 .

Brian Moon was 23rd in a field of 78 in the discus (179-2). The mark is the third-best in UCI history.
