Roeder earns all-star pick from one resident

We don’t get to see many team players these days, let alone a player who will stay with the home team throughout his career. For the city of Costa Mesa our star player is City Manager Allan Roeder.

I attended the Mesa del Mar annual meeting April 19 at which Roeder was one of the invited speakers. After his talk, and years watching from home, I am still convinced that Roeder is truly one of Costa Mesa’s strongest assets, and I would like to thank him for a job well done and for his continued support and professionalism.

Hotel developer owed a thanks and an apology

I think we at least owe Steve Sutherland a big thank you for paving the way and testing the waters for future projects on Newport Harbor. It’s obvious the Cannery area, City Hall and Lido Village are the future battlefields for redevelopment. Now the developers and investors have an idea of how it will play out.

Does the city get to use any of the environmental review for that project? Thanks Steve, but also, sorry dude for any mistreatment.

Does school district get any say in development?

I reread the Daily Pilot’s April 4 article “Developers eager for Westside plans.” It was filled with numbers and statistics. Unfortunately, I did not see any mention of new schools being built to accommodate the new residents.

As the Newport-Mesa Unified District will be affected by these new residential units, do its leader get a voice in the process?
