South Coast Repertory is launching yet another world premiere this weekend as part of the ninth annual Pacific Playwrights Festival.

Officially scheduled for May 5 to 7, the festival includes the already-opened world premiere of Christopher d’Amboise’s “The Studio” in the Segerstrom Theater and this weekend’s first look at “Blue Door” by Tanya Barfield on the Julianne Argyros Stage.

“Blue Door” is centered on the traditions of oral history, exploring issues that face America as a nation. It focuses on the sleepless night of a mathematics professor as he’s visited by four generations of ancestors, from slavery through the Black Power movement.
