Postseason beginning this week

It’s about to get crazy in the world of high school sports. League finals in swimming and track and field are on tap this week in four leagues involving area schools.

The championships kicks off Thursday with a quartet of meets. The Golden West League swimming finals will be at Orange High, starting at 1 p.m.

Meanwhile, the Golden West League’s track and field athletes ? including Estancia’s Ryan Whites and Costa Mesa’s Jasmin Day ? will be at El Modena High for their league finals at 2 p.m.

Zach Chandy and the Sage Hill School track and field team will be at Saddleback College for the Academy League finals at 2:30 p.m.

Starting 30 minutes later are the Sea View League finals at Irvine. They should be a showcase for Newport Harbor’s Bo Taylor, Allison Stokke, Whitney Blue and Jessica Robson.

It all starts up again Friday at 1 p.m. with the Pacific Coast League swim finals at Beckman High. Look for Corona del Mar’s girls to make their mark on the proceedings.

Beckman is also the host for the Pacific Coast League track and field finals, which start at 2:45 p.m. The Sea Kings will be led by defending state 1,600-meter champion Annie St. Geme, among others.

The Sea View League swim finals start at 3 p.m. at Irvine High. They will include strong boys’ and girls’ squads from Newport Harbor.

The Academy League finals, featuring Sage Hill, start at Capistrano Valley High at 3:30 p.m.
