Sage Hill gets seconds

MISSION VIEJO ? Sage Hill School took home a pair of second-place finishes at the Academy League track and field finals on Thursday.

The Lightning finished behind St. Margaret’s in the boys’ and girls’ finals.

Zach Chandy was a double-winner to lead the Lightning boys’ team. The senior won the 200 and 400 meters, finished second in the 800 and ran anchor on Sage Hill’s winning 4x400 relay team.

Connor Rose won the 800 and 1,600, edging Chandy by two-hundredths of a second in the 800. He also ran on the winning relay squad, along with Tyler Ellis and Tim Lefler.

Blaine Bolus was Sage Hill’s other winner on the boys’ side, leaping to victory in the triple jump. The freshman also qualified for the CIF Southern Section Division IV preliminaries in the high jump and long jump with his second-place finishes.

Also qualifying for the Division IV preliminaries were Chris Neale (100), Nick Witte (100), Ellis (400) and the Sage Hill 4x100 relay team.

For the girls, Kelsey Rose won the 200 and 400, and ran anchor on the winning 4x400 relay team. Cait Williamson, who also ran the relay, was the winner in the 800 meters.

MacKenzie Muhonen had qualifying performances in the long jump and triple jump, and Rachel Haber advanced in the 200.
