Pirates win, advance in playoffs
COSTA MESA ? Mark Haderlein pitched out of a bases-loaded jam with no outs in the ninth inning as the Orange Coast College baseball team escaped with a 4-3 victory over Cerritos in a California Community College Championships play-in game Tuesday.

Haderlein entered the game with two on in the ninth inning and plunked the first batter he faced, before coaxing an infield pop-up and a game-ending double play. The sophomore earned his eighth save.
Keith Demorgandie picked up the victory, going 6 2/3 innings with three strikeouts and no walks.
OCC scored all of its runs in the first three innings. Chris Lum had two hits and drove in a pair of runs. Matt Meadows and Garrett Smith each added two hits and an RBI, and Garrett DeGrazio chipped in with three hits. Eric Oliver had two hits and scored twice, and Matt Meadows singled and doubled.
