CdM gets wild-card game

The Corona del Mar High softball team will visit Gahr High in a CIF Southern Section Division IV wild-card game on Wednesday at 3 p.m.

The Sea Kings (14-10), who finished fourth in the seven-team Pacific Coast League, will battle the Gladiators (17-6-1) for a berth in Friday’s first round at Burroughs of Ridgecrest (17-8-1).

CdM defeated Gahr, 4-1, in the Northwood Tournament on March 18. In that game, CdM junior Michelle Tolfa threw a four-hitter to earn the win.

CdM is attempting to win a wild-card game for the third straight season. It topped JSerra, 1-0, last season and defeated Mary Star of the Sea, 5-2, in 2004. Those are the program’s only two postseason victories.
