Fire singes house, truck

An early-morning fire Friday in the 100 block of 21st Street in Costa Mesa burned a truck and carport and caused some damage to a house, but no one was injured, officials said. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

“It looked like the vehicle sustained the most damage,” Costa Mesa Fire Capt. Mike Hastert said, adding that the extent of the damage is unclear.

When firefighters were called out at 3:30 a.m., they found a downed power line at the scene, but they weren’t sure if that caused the fire or happened afterward, Hastert said. The residents of the house got out safely, but there was some smoke damage to the house, he said.
