Who doesn’t love a parade?

We hope you’re reading this first thing Sunday morning.

If so, finish reading through the paper, gather family and friends and head down to Balboa Island.

Just make sure you’re there by 10:30 a.m. If not, never mind.

Why? For the 13th annual Balboa Island Parade, that don’t-blink-or-you-mightmiss-it event (really, it’s only a few blocks long so it passes by quickly) that each time juggles the serious and ridiculous. Each time, it shows off a little piece of Newport Beach’s spirit, that mix of ? well, check out the parade and find out for yourself, if you haven’t.

The parade is set to begin at 11 a.m. and run from Bayside Drive across the Balboa Island Bridge and down Marine Avenue to the island’s fire station.

So why the 10:30 deadline? That’s when the bridge closes down. If you aren’t on the island by then, you may as well get back to reading the Pilot.
