Election results by precinct go online

Want to see which candidates or issues were favored by voters in your precinct by clicking on a map? Now you can, with a new function on the Orange County Registrar of Voters website.

The site now features precinct maps of the county that list election results by city, ZIP Code or precinct. Those breakdowns were available before, but not as quickly, and not over the Web.

“It’s the most detailed reporting of results we’ve ever been able to do,” Registrar Neal Kelley said.

The new offering is one of several data enhancements Kelley has ushered in. Last fall the registrar’s office introduced new online services such as frequently updated results by city and district, voter turnout by precinct, and even a live Web cam to show activity in the warehouse where voting machines are brought and votes counted.

“The people that before November would flood our offices with calls asking for data, it’s all online now,” Kelley said.

The registrar’s website is at www.oc.ca.gov/election, and the interactive election results can be found at www.ocvote.com/live.
