CDM’S EADINGTON SHARP

Corona del Mar High senior Eric Eadington pitched two shutout innings for the South in the 39th annual Kiwanis Club of Orange County All-Star Game at La Palma Park on Tuesday.

Eadington, who will play for Harvard next year, struck out four. He allowed no hits and walked four.

“He was throwing very hard,” Sea Kings Coach John Emme said. “He was throwing it by everybody.”

YOUTH FOOTBALL CLINIC

Costa Mesa Pop Warner Football, in association with the NFL Alumni of Southern California, will hold its second annual interactive, noncontact football camp Sunday at Davis Elementary, on Arlington between Costa Mesa High and TeWinkle Park.

The event, open to kids ages 9-15, runs from 10 a.m. to approximately 1 p.m. and will feature instruction given by former NFL players.

Campers are asked to wear T-shirts, shorts and cleats.

Cost is $10 per camper and snacks and drinks will be available for purchase.

Registration begins at 9 a.m. on the field.

UCI SAILORS HONORED

UC Irvine junior skipper Frank Tybor and junior crew Whitney Loufek have been named All-American by the Intercolletiage Sailing Assn.

Tybor, who received honorable mention in All-American voting in 2005, and Loufek helped the Anteaters earn the No. 11 ranking in the final national poll conducted by Sailing World.

Tybor and Loufek were also named all-district this season.

UCI finished third in the Pacific Coast coed and team championships. The Anteaters won the national sloop championship in October.

ANTEATERS RECOGNIZED

UC Irvine junior Robyn Kaake and sophomore goalkeeper Lauren Machanis each received honorable mention by women’s coaches voting on the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches All-American teams.

Kaake led the Anteaters in scoring with 66 goals in 33 games. She was a second-team All-Mountain Pacific Sports Federation selection.

Machanis led the MPSF in saves with 285.
