We love our daddy, Coby Sonenshine, because he gives us lots of hugs and makes us laugh when we play hockey together. He is our best friend.

My dad is actually my sister’s dad too, but she’s only 6, and I’m almost 6, so I’m writing this.

I think my dad is the greatest in the whole world. He’s a fire captain so he works a lot, but he’s home a lot. He takes my friends and me to school, he works in my classroom, he coaches my baseball and soccer teams, he takes me swimming, he takes me for haircut,s and that always means candy afterward, he makes yummy pasta and doesn’t even put peas or broccoli in it, and he loves to take me to the Fun Zone to play games.

Sometimes I think he’s a little too strict, but my mom says that’s a good thing. When I’m feeling sad, he’s the only one who can make me laugh. He calls me his little buddy and he tells me he loves me all the time. He even lets me call him when he’s at work if I want to tell him something.

As for my sister, I think it’s kind of weird, but he takes her to get her fingers and toes painted. She loves it. I think she’s kind of a handful but she seems to have our dad wrapped around her finger. She smiles and he seems to do anything for her. She’s happiest the days he’s at home and not working. When she’s sad, she just wants her daddy.

We love our dad because he loves us so much.

Love,

AJ and OWYN STEFANO

Dear Daddy,

We know that we are expensive, time-consuming, patience-taxing additions to any family, but the sacrifices you have made for us are insignificant compared to the love we feel from you. Our hero!

We love you,

Our daddy, Himmet Dajee, is the best daddy in the whole wide world. We love you so much! You are nice to the family. Thank you so much for taking care of us when mommy broke her ankle, and also you took us to school. You are a good cook sometimes. Thanks for playing outside with us when we are bored. What a dad you are! We remember when you taught us to ride our bikes when we were 5 years old. Thanks again for being a great dad.

Love your daughters,

OLIVIA, 11, and ISABELLE DAJEE, 7

My dad, Paul Taylor, is a very special father because he is loving and generous. Not only to me but also to our community. He helps with my class parties as room dad, and at night, he keeps our soccer park as green as grass can grow. My dad also works at Shaw & Sons. He helps beautify our sidewalks and buildings. That’s why he means so much to me, my family and the community!

I love you daddy, and I’m so proud of you! Happy Daddy’s Day!

Love your loving daughter,

SAVANNAH NICOLE TAYLOR

The best daddy in the world!

My father is brave,

My father is kind.

He’ll save me from danger,

And never leave me behind.

He’s intelligent and funny,

And I will always love my daddy

Because he’s so loving, even when

He doesn’t share his candy.

Dear Dad,

Thank you for yanking me out of first grade for six months so our family could travel the world. Other parents said you can’t just take your children out of school, and you said, “Watch me.” I still have the walking stick from that trip that you carved in the forests of Austria 47 years ago.

A few years later, the six-day walk you led with me and three of my friends to Palm Springs was a blast, even when we got lost on a back road and had to spend the night in a ditch. The six-week Harley Davidson trip in the summer of my 14th year was awesome, as you taught me how to play gin rummy in the hotel rooms, allowed me the adventure of spending the night on a park bench and showed me firsthand the reality of big city slums, something I had never experienced in Newport Beach.

You were a tough guy who never backed down from a fight, but also a softie when it came to others less fortunate. You prepared me for life well, teaching me how to cook, dress neatly, invest, save, be thrifty and help others in need.

Your greatest quality, however, was always having as much time as I needed to listen to me. You never said, “I’ve got to go now.” I always came away from those talks feeling that all was well with the world, and my worries had vanished. You were a great teacher, and I will try to pass on this wisdom to your grandchildren, Jules III and Madeline. I love you.
