The Marina High boys’ basketball team began its summer season last weekend and won a tournament-type event at Point Loma University in San Diego.

The Vikings defeated Flintridge, Desert Mirage and San Diego in pool play, and they finished by holding off Diamond Bar, 96-91.

Fifteen teams were split into three different pools.

“We are really doing a good job of running and creating tempo,” Marina Coach Roger Holmes said. “We are pretty athletic and have some great shooters.
