Robbed shopper sought

Costa Mesa Police are looking for a man believed to have been robbed in a South Coast Plaza parking lot at 2 p.m. Friday.

Police said several witnesses reported the crime, but the victim left the scene before police arrived.

Witnesses told police they saw a man walk up to another man in the Sears parking lot at Bristol Street and Sunflower Avenue. They said the man held the shopper at knife point and stole his wallet. The man was seen driving way in a black Jeep Cherokee driven by another man, police said.

Witnesses saw the victim pick up his shopping bag and run away from the area. Police do not know whether the victim was injured. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Costa Mesa Police at (714) 754-5255.
