Saints ride early lead to victory

The Fighting Saints jumped out to a 6-1 lead in their Wales Division match against the Bullfrogs and went on to record a 9-3 victory at Coast 2 Coast Inline Hockey Center in Huntington Beach.

Garrett Ono scored the first two goals of the match for the Fighting Saints and went on to finish with a match-best four goals.

Jimmy Rodriguez scored twice and Ashley Woody, Logan Matsunaga and Ryan Withey each scored once.

Riley Lowe had two assists, and Matsunaga, Withey, Woody and Jake Beideman each had one assist.

William Baltazar recorded 13 saves.

Craig Wellander scored twice for the Bullfrogs. Austin Anderson posted one goal, Luis Concepcion had a pair of assists, Kyle Haymond had one assist, and Tyler Allen had 21 saves.

In other Wales Division action:

Surf City Sykos 7, Tropical Penguins 5

Jason Callanan scored three goals and had a pair of assists as the Surf City Sykos got past the Tropical Penguins.

Joshua Ane and Alex McCabe each scored twice.

Ane also assisted two goals, and Jason Ferrall had 17 saves.

Garrick Langer and Phillip Berman each scored twice and Kevin Kurz once for the Tropical Penguins.

Langer, Kurz, Joshua Fowler and Jeremy McHenry each had an assist, and Jonathan Cao finished with 23 saves.
