Blood drive heads to the beach
Newport Beach Lifeguards will hold a blood drive from 2 to 8 p.m. July 26 at lifeguard headquarters at the base of the Newport Beach Pier.
The blood drive is part of the California Lifeguards Blood Drive contest together with the American Red Cross: a challenge to raise blood for people in need. The annual Newport Lifeguards blood drive raises more than 100 units of blood.
Sign up to give blood by calling the Newport Beach Fire Department at (949) 644-3178 or online at www.givelife.org. Donors need to bring a picture ID. There is room for 150 donors during the six-hour drive.
