Lions’ student-athletes honored

Men’s basketball standout Levi Seekins was a finalist for the NAIA Dr. LeRoy Walker Sportsmanship Award as part of the Champions of Character program.

Seekins, who led the Lions to to NAIA Tournament as a senior, was Vanguard’s Make Champions of Character recipient. He was then nominated by the Golden State Athletic Conference and was named the Region II Champions of Character honoree.

Women’s basketball star Kelly Schmidt and women’s track and field standout Laura Bowman were voted Vanguard’s Female Champions of Character for 2005-06.

In addition to invidividual recognition, five Vanguard teams earned NAIA Buffalo Funds Five-Star Awards, as part of the Champions of Character program. Vanguard was recognized in men’s cross country, women’s basketball, women’s tennis, and men’s and women’s track.
