Hosseini tops locals in U.S. Open

Newport Harbor High graduate Erica Hosseini highlights a field of three Newport-Mesa surfers competing in the U.S. Open of Surfing at the Huntington Beach Pier.

Hosseini’s finished 25th in the World Qualifying Series points standings in 2004 and represented the United States in the world junior championships. She will compete in the women’s division and junior girls’ division.

Hosseini and Courtney Conlogue of Costa Mesa will compete in the junior girls’ division which begins today with the round of 32 at 7 a.m.

The junior girls’ division final will be Saturday at 1:45 p.m.

Round one of the women’s division is Wednesday at 7:30 a.m.

In addition to Hosseini, Costa Mesa resident Sara Hoffert is scheduled to compete in the women’s division.

The women’s division final is scheduled Saturday at 2:15 p.m.
