Celebrating a 90th birthday

In WWII she worked as a first aid instructor for the Red Cross.

The mother of four spent her time working with her children as a Girl Scout leader, a Cub Scout den mother, a PTA president, a room mother and a camp nurse.

According to her daughter Wanda Garro, Trautwein was very active in whatever organization she joined.

Trautwein has 18 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and 18 great-great-grandchildren, and one more is due this year.

Quite the traveler, Trautwein sailed to Europe in 1959 aboard the original Queen Mary. She has journeyed to 16 countries, all 50 of the United States, every Canadian province, and avidly backpacked until the age of 73.
