Penguins take fight out of Saints

The Tropical Penguins cruised to a big early lead and rode that start to a 6-1 victory over the Fighting Saints in Wales Division action at Coast 2 Coast Inline Hockey Center in Huntington Beach.

The lead was 4-0 through two periods of play, with Bryan Perez netting two goals and Phillip Berman and Jeff Perez each scoring once. Joshua Fowler and Bryan Perez added a goal apiece in the final period to complete the scoring for the Penguins.

Fowler, Jeff Perez, Jeremy McHenry, Dylan Locke and Kevin Kurz each had an assist.

Jonathan Cao recorded 16 saves.

The Fighting Saints scored their only goal of the match in the third period, with Ashley Woody scoring off an assist from Jake Beideman.

William Baltazar finished with 14 saves.

In other Wales Division action:

Surf City Sykos 10, Thrashers 3

The Sykos scored seven goals in the second period to cruise to an easy victory.

Alex McCabe led all scorers with five goals, in addition to picking up an assist. J.J. Millikan scored four goals and added an assist and Trevor Millikan scored once and assisted four other goals.

Bradley Markle also had an assist and Jason Ferrall had 16 saves.

For the Thrashers, Jacob Sabraw, Kyler Scott and Gregory Hancock all scored. Michael Thomas had a pair of assists and Sabraw and Alec Schartner also had assists.

Kenneth Nguyen had 21 saves.
