Xtreme Revolution dominates girls’ soccer club tournament

Xtreme Revolution, a girls’ Under-11 soccer team, dominated its division at the Xtreme Cup ’06 hosted by Gold Coast Xtreme Soccer Club last weekend at the Huntington Beach Sports Complex.

More than 130 teams, including five in the Under-11 division, competed at five locations in Huntington Beach.

Xtreme Revolution went 3-0-1 in the tournament. The wins came against Glendora Futbol Club Red (1-0), Rancho Santa (3-0) and a second Glendora team, Glendora Futbol Club (3-0).

The tie was a scoreless contest against Force Soccer Club.

Xtreme Revolution, which next competes Aug. 12-13 at the Capo Cup in San Juan Capistrano, is coached by Dave Vasquez and features players Alondra Novoa, Angelina Freiberger, Chelsea Wright, Claire Gallagher, Daissy Zapiain, Denise Hernandez, Francesca Rand, Kaylah Vaca, Layla Silva, Martine Rintoul, Melissa Arluce, Regina Rosas and Sierra Krenik.

Forwards Arluce, Vaca and Silva combined to score six goals in the tournament. Keepers Freiberger and Rintoul recorded the shutouts.

Wolfpack U-10 boys place second

Wolfpack Soccer Club’s boys’ Under-10 team took runner-up honors at the San Diego Premier Cup played in Rancho Penasquitos.

In Pool A play, the Wolfpack fell, 1-0, on a penalty kick by Pensaquitos Premier Red but came back to defeat San Marco Matrix, 4-1, to finished in second place.

In the semifinals , Wolfpack defeated Futbol+ Club Heat, winner of Pool B, 4-1.

In the division final, Wolfpack again took on Premier Red, only to fall, 3-0.

Wolfpack, which next competes in the West Coast Futbol Classic on Aug 19-20 in San Clemente, is coached by Jeff Schofield and features players Devin Anderson, Connor Gordon, Daniel Klemm, Hunter Kling, Cooper Kossick, Jake McKinley, Daniel Neff, Ryan Priest, Max Simon, Teddy Stuka and Walker Thurston.
