Sewage leak forces 2-day closure of restaurant

A leak in a sewage line forced the White House Restaurant to close Sunday through Tuesday while the problem was being fixed.

According to owner George Catsouras, the property’s main sewage line collapsed. The collapse occurred under Park Avenue, and was due to age.

“It hurts business to close for two days in the middle of summer,” he said.

Disaster survival is topic at Business Exchange

Laguna company to work with outdoor group

The Outdoor Education Center of Orange County has hired Gladstone International, a Laguna Beach-based public relations firm, to provide public relations services, Joan Gladstone said.

Located in the hills above Irvine Regional Park, the Outdoor Education Center will provide overnight and day-trip programming for school groups and weekend and summer programs for youth organizations.

The facility is scheduled to open for pilot programs in 2007, with more trips in January 2008.

A host of local youth-based organizations are participating in programming development, including the Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, YMCA, Camp Fire USA, Boys & Girls Clubs and schools. The collaboration is intended to ensure that the programs will meet state standards.
