Wrestling was inadvertently ommited from the Aug. 13 edition’s recap of Newport Harbor High boys’ athletics in the 2005-06 school year.

For the first time, the Sailors won the Newport Harbor-Corona del Mar Tournament championship.

The Sailors defeated Orange, 50-27, in their last match of the tournament to secure the title.

Ryan Dickey, a 160-pound sophomore, got the pin that put the Tars over the top.

Sophomore Josh George (125 pounds) went 8-0 in the tournament, while Eddie Charcas (130), Jose Anaya (140) and Bryan Bennett (215) were all 7-1.

Newport Harbor defeated Sea View League rival Woodbridge for the first time in six years.

Charcas reached the finals of the CIF Inland Division championship meet at Los Osos High in Rancho Cucamonga.

Josh George (130), who will be a junior this season, was sixth at the Inland Division meet.
