Trio unbeaten in summer softball

Bamboo Bar and Grill, Hennessey’s and Compound Fractures remained the only unbeaten teams after five weeks of play in the Laguna Beach Community Services Dept. men’s summer 16” slow pitch softball program.

Monday League

Bamboo Bar and Grill 9, DUI Fighters 3

Jesse Westgaard hit a home run, double and single to lead a 13-hit attack by Bamboo Bar and Grill. Vic Terreirs and Ryan Neptune each had a pair of singles.

Rotary 12, Forty Majority 1

The Rotary battery pounded out 20 hits, as the team ran its win streak to three.

Steve Friedman led the onslaught with a pair of home runs and a single that resulted in six runs batted in. Lead-off hitter Troy Medley delivered a home run and singled twice.

Five different players hit singles for Forty Majority, which was dropped from the unbeaten ranks.

Hosers 7, C-Dawgs 0

Nick Pivaroff smashed two home runs and singled for the Hosers, who out-hit the C-Dawgs, 9-4.

Tuesday League

Used Cars 8, Sandpiper 6

Micah Stovall produced the game-winning grand slam in the bottom of the eighth to keep Used Cars in first-place by a game over defending-champion Team Viagra, Ganahl Lumber and Island Shade.

Michael McKenzie hit a two-run home run for Used Cars.

Micah Brown and Ryan Neptune each homered for Sandpiper.

Team Viagra 10, Ganahl Lumber 4

Nate Pivaroff homered twice, Keith Mulvaney hit two homers and the Team Viagra pitching staff allowed just three singles in defeating Ganahl Lumber.

Island Shade 18, Good, Bad and Ugly 0

Coby Naess went four for four with two home runs, a double and single as Island Shade ran its winning streak to three.

Chuck Emanuele also homered twice and Andy Bunn, Brad Upton and Joe Garcia each homered and singled during Island Shade’s 22-hit attack.

Wednesday League

Hennessey’s 21, Mesa Verde Partners 10

Hennessey’s hitters produced 20 hits, as the team won its third straight game.

Lead-off hitter Mike McKenzie homered and singled three times, Teo Moore hit two home runs and singled to account for four RBIs and Dave Mahoney hit two solo homers.

Jeff Greenough hit a three-run homer and Scott Henderson and Bill Toon each hit solo homers to highlight a nine-hit attack by Mesa Verde Partners.

Sportsworld 15, Sac Johnson 1

Lead-off batter Ryan Corbett smacked a grand slam as Sportsworld moved into a second-place tie with Mesa Verde Partners in the league standings.

Jimmy Bobst and Shane Schissler hit back-to-back doubles in the first inning to account for the only extra base hits for Sac Johnson.

Artists 12, Puswatrkylegs 2

Ryan Indiana hit a three-run home run and doubled and Greg Kain doubled and singled to lead the Artists.

Trevor Lyle hit a solo home run for Puswatrkylegs.

Thursday League

Compound Fractures 12, Arbitech 10

Compound Fractures remained undefeated, despite being out-hit in the home run department by defending league-champion Arbitech, 6-3.

Steve Hearst and Russell Swats each hit three-run home runs and Eric Nelson hit a solo homer for Compound Fractures.

After Nelson’s homer had moved Compound Fractures to a 12-7 lead, Arbitech closed out the game with solo home runs by Ryan Neptune, Art McGrath and Todd Lacurcel, each coming with two out in the inning.

Neptune, Lacurcel and Jimmy Whalen each homered earlier in the game.

Hotwings 13, Red Runs 9

Trigg Garner hit a pair of home runs and Hotwings moved into second place in the league standings.

Allen Krist hit two home runs and Garret Turk hit a three-run homer for the Red Runs.
