Costa Mesa ‘no-logo’ store holds grand opening at the Camp

Blankstyle, a retail store specializing in logo-free, comfortable, fitted clothing for men and women is having its grand opening celebration today at the Camp shopping center in Costa Mesa.

The company began as an online business, but the owners wanted to reach out more to the individual consumer.

There will be live music and discounts on merchandise from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., an appearance by Alternative Apparel representatives and a party to follow.

The store carries T-shirts, tank tops, dresses, hooded sweatshirts, jackets, yoga pants, denim and accessories from American Apparel, Alternative Apparel, J Brand and Salt Works jeans, among others.

League of United Latin American Citizens comes to Costa Mesa

The community can see the Costa Mesa League of United Latin American Citizens at 5 p.m. today at the Balearic Community Center.

The national nonprofit organization is an advocate of education and civil rights. The Costa Mesa chapter will focus on promoting tolerance and diversity and plans on working with community groups and the city council to stave crime and gang violence.

Humberto Caspa will serve as the organization’s president and David Cortez as its vice president. Eloisa Rangel and Mirna Burciaga will serve as secretary and treasurer, respectively.
