    SENIOR GAMES

    Senior citizens who reside in long-term care, assisted living, retirement centers and adult day care programs will compete in modified Olympics-style competitions from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Volunteer opportunities available.     CINEMA ORANGE

    The Orange County Museum of Art will show its Animated Showcase, featuring a collection of short animated films including both hand-drawn and computer-generated works, as part of a free outdoor series of films from the recent 2006 Newport Beach Film Festival.     FAMILY MOVIE NIGHT

    Balboa Performing Arts Theater will partner with Quiksilver this summer to present the Family Movie Nite Series showing of the surf film “First Chapter,” from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. The beach next to Balboa Pier will be transformed into a large outdoor movie theater, set up at one end of the Peninsula Park Field.     THE BRITISH ARE COMING

    The Fab Four musicians of the Classical Mystery Tour will perform The Beatles songbook with full symphony orchestra at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre at 8 p.m. Evening will feature original members of the Broadway hit “Beatlemania.” Tickets range from $19 to $99.     POLICE VS. SECURITYThe Costa Mesa Police Department will take on South Coast Plaza Security in the 1st Annual Police vs. Security Softball Game at Carl Thornton Park in Santa Ana. The event, which includes a barbecue and opportunity drawing in addition to the nine-inning softball game, is free to the public and will raise funds for the Festival of Children Foundation.     PIONEER OPENINGPioneer, the electronics store specializing in home entertainment products, will open its first U.S. store at South Coast Plaza this weekend. Chris Rose and John Salley, of Best Damn Sports Show Period, will be on hand from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. to greet fans, and shoppers will be able to sit and watch high definition sports programming in one of eight locations set up within the store. Pioneer will also feature a slot machine made from plasma televisions, and guests will be able to try their luck at winning prizes that include Pioneer home theater systems. The Pioneer store is located on the lower level near Saks Fifth Avenue.

    CONCERT IN THE PARK

    Get ready to hear Upstream, a Trinidad & Tobago band, at 5 p.m. as they rock Eastbluff Park. Evening will feature reggae and calypso music. Free and open to the public.
