AUGUSTMONDAY: The Orange County Young Republicans will hold a special meeting at 6:30 p.m. at the Clubhouse restaurant in South Coast Plaza. Information: Andrew Patterson at internal-vp@ocyr.org.

TUESDAY: A reception will be held in support of Jessica’s Law, with guest Mark Lunsford, father of the 9-year-old who the law is named after. Other speakers include Anaheim Mayor Curt Pringle and state Assemblyman Todd Spitzer. The event will be from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the office of Buck Johns, 3501 Jamboree Rd., South Tower Suite 606, Newport Beach. Event sponsors are $1,200. 30: There will be a Costa Mesa City Council candidates forum at 7 p.m. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. The event will be at the Neighborhood Community Center at 1845 Park Ave. in Costa Mesa.

SEPTEMBER7: The Orange County Federation of Republican Women will hold its monthly meeting at 10 a.m. at the Costa Mesa Golf Course, 1701 Country Club Drive. 10:The Democracy for America-Orange County and Progressive Democrats for America-Southern California Chapter will host a forum on immigration issues from noon to 2:00 p.m. at 1125 Dana Drive in Costa Mesa. The speakers will be Ruben Rumbaut, Professor of Sociology at the University of California-Irvine and Jim Brandt, the Democratic nominee for Congress in the 46th district. The forum is open to the public.
