City clerk’s office offers passport photo services

The city of Huntington Beach has begun offering passport photograph services in the city clerk’s office. The clerk’s office recently began offering passport application and processing services after being designated a U.S. Passport Acceptance facility back in March.

By offering both services in one facility, the city’s goal is to make it easier for travelers to obtain passports, which will be required of all citizens of the United States, Canada, Mexico and Bermuda under the Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative.

The initiative, which will come into full effect Jan. 1, 2008, requires that all those traveling to or from Mexico, the Caribbean, Bermuda, Central and South America have a passport or valid document at border crossings as well as by air or sea.

U.S. citizens can visit the State Department’s travel website, www.travel.state.gov, for more information or call the National Passport Information Center at (877) 487-2778. Information is also available at the city clerk’s office or by phone at (714) 374-1600.
