No intent to undo Westside plans

As chairman of the Westside Revitalization Assn. and the Westside Group political action committee I want to assure Christian Eric and the community that we have no plans or intent to “undo the vote” or modify the Westside zone overlays.

Eric also expressed concern regarding our financial support for City Council candidates. Our group supports Bruce Garlich, who we believe will hold developers to the building standards described in the current zone overlay plans; to date he is the only candidate or group our committee has donated to.

As business and property owners, all we ask for is high-quality, medium-density, residential and live/work developments that are designed with proper buffering to existing uses. The overlay debate is over, and the planning commission and City Council voted unanimously to approve the plans. Now is not the time for political rhetoric from any of the many factions who participated in years of meetings regarding the Westside.

The plaza and the island in one city?

The city of Costa Mesa had better form a foot-wide strip around South Coast Plaza and the Orange County Performing Arts Center before Newport Beach attempts to annex that area too.

New Latino group shows candidate has an agenda

How very fortunate Costa Mesa citizens are that the League of United Latin American Citizens has now formed a chapter in Costa Mesa! The treasurer of the group, Mirna Burciaga, is also running for City Council.

Did the Pilot do a word search on this group? This is just another open borders, pro-illegal-immigration group that will do its best to silence the people of Costa Mesa. I am sick of this group or that group forming for their own special interests with no one representing the “average joe.”

The League of United Latin American Citizens and the Return to Reason group each has its own agenda, and it is not what is best for the residents of this city.

Please, League of United Latin American Citizens, show me one instance where the civil rights of an American with Latino heritage have been violated in this city. Thank you, Mirna Burciaga, for showing me your true agenda.
